How to order noodles in Thai

Before we order noodles, let's learn some vocabularies first.


Types of noodles in Thai

  • Egg noodles = บะหมี่/ bà-mèe

  • Instant noodles = เส้นมาม่า/ sên ma-mâ

  • Glass noodles = วุ้นเส้น/ wún sên

  • Small noodles = เส้นเล็ก/ sên lék

  • Big flat noodles = เส้นใหญ่/ sên yài

  • Vermicelli = เส้นหมี่/ sên mèe


Brown soup noodles

Types of soup for noodles

  • Brown soup = น้ำข้น/ náam kôn

  • Clear soup = น้ำใส/ náam săi

  • Spicy soup = ต้มยำ/ dtôm yam


Other useful vocabulary

  • Noodles = ก๋วยเตี๋ยว/ gŭuay-dtĭieow

  • Types of noodles = เส้น/ sên

  • Meat balls = ลูกชิ้น/ lôok chín

  • Fish balls = ลูกชิ้นปลา/ lôok chín bplaa

" เอา + ก๋วยเตี๋ยว + เส้นใหญ่ + น้ำข้น "

" ao + gŭuay-dtĭieow + sên yài + náam kôn "


but if you want the dry on or without soup, you can add " แห้ง/ hâeng" after


How to say "Extra" in Thai?


If the portion is still too small, you can add " พิเศษ/pí-sèt " when you order.


If you want more things specifically, you can say " พิเศษ/pí-sèt + (the thing you want more)"
